Sunnyside - STOW WENGENROTH
Medium: lithograph
STOW WENGENROTH
American, (1906-1977)
Lithograph, 1959, Stuckey 253, edition 50. 8 1/4 x 15 7/8 in. Signed in pencil. This is a fine impression with full margins. The condition is fine apart from a faint line of toning from an earlier mat opening. Sunnyside, in Tarrytown, N.Y., was the home of the American writer, Washington Irving. He was the author of "Rip van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Irving bought a two room Dutch stone house on the banks of the Hudson River in 1835 and thoughtfully expanded it and today it looks much like it did in the 1850s. Sunnyside was declared a national historic landmark in 1962. $600
