Ice Hockey - TSCHUDI

Ice Hockey
Linocut printed in colors, 1933, Coppel LT 31, edition 50. 10 1/4 x 11 in. Signed and numbered in pencil. Titled below in pencil. This is a fine, rich impression with full margins. The condition is excellent. The paper is a thin, off-white oriental wove paper. This impression is from the first edition and a second edition for the USA was begun in 1950. These were annotated "USA". "This proved particularly popular with the critics and collectors. Within ten days of opening their 1933 colour prints show, the Redfern Gallery urgently requested Tschudi to send more impressions of Ice Hockey." (See notes, page 136, from the Coppel entry for this print; Linocuts of the Machine Age, Claude Flight and the Grosvenor School, 1995, Scholar Press.)

Sailors
Linocut printed in colors, 1930, Coppel LT2, edition 50. 7 3/4 x 4 1/2 in. Signed and numbered in pencil within the image. Titled below the image and also numbered. This is a fine impression with rich colors printed on a thin oriental paper. The modest borders around the print are replete with ink from the printing process. Fine condition. IN 1929, Tschudi enrolled at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art and there she studied with Claude Flight. She studied in Paris from 1931 to 1933 with Léger, Lhote and Severini.
