Softground etching and aquatint, about 1936-40, edition probably about 25. 9 x 7 1/4 in. Signed, titled and numbered "23" in pencil. Here we have a fine, dark impression printed on wove paper. The margins are full and the condition is excellent. This impression bears the stamp "Federal Art Project." Rutka was from Michigan and studied at the Cleveland School of Art. She graduated in 1929 and joined the Cleveland WPA in 1936. An impression of this print is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
