San Franciso '34 Waterfront Strike
Screenprint, 1949, edition 75. 11 1/4 x 22 1/4 in. Signed in the image, upper right. Signed and numbered in ink. The title is printed as part of the silkscreen process in the lower left. This is a fine impression with full margins. The condition is fine apart from a soft cease on the right side just outside of the image and two other creases of minor consequence, outside of the image. This print replicates one of his murals for the Rincon Post Office in San Francisco. Refregier came to New York from Moscow and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. He was active with the WPA project and lived in Woodstock, NY during this period and beyond. He died in Moscow at the age of 75.
