Etching, 1939, Sanchez 361, edition 75. 10 x 14 in. Signed and titled in pencil. This impression is also inscribed by the artist, "artist's proof." This is a fine impression printed with tone. The margins are full and the condition is excellent. This is a view of Comanche Canyon, looking towards the Pedernal, which is in northern New Mexico.

Penitente Prayer
Drypoint and aquatint, 1937, Sanchez 349, edition 25. 11 x 14 in. Signed and titled in pencil. This is a superb impression with full margins. The tonalities in the sky are beautifully rendered evoking an intensely spiritual image. The condition is fine apart from a minor soft wrinkle in the extreme upper left corner of the margin. This is an early, uncommon print. According to Phillips Kloss, "prayer was the humble aspect of the Penitente rituals..." (See page 32 of Gene Kloss Etchings (1981).

The margins are somewhat narrow and the condition is fine. "Kloss considered this print to be her most perfect aquatint." (See page 29, Volume II, of the recently published catalog raisonne of Kloss prints by Gene Sanchez (2009).
