Dog Wood engraving, 1929, Duffy 107, edition 100 (forty printed). 6 1/8 x 3 1/4 in. Signed in pencil and inscribed, "Greetings from Howard Cook - my self portrait." This is a very fine impression printed on thin japan paper and mounted at the top to a heavier support sheet. Fine condition. This was possibly intended as a holiday card and with the addition of "self portrait," I suspect the title of simply "Dog," does not tell the whole story here. SOLD |

Wood Interior Wood engraving, 1931, Duffy 171, edition about 150 (?) 6 1/2 x 4 1/8 in. Signed, dated and numbered in pencil. This is a fine impression printed on thin light cream wove paper. The margins are wide and the condition is fine. (There's just the faintest suggestion of toning within an earlier mat opening.) This is from the deluxe edition of 100 from The Checkerboard
published by Weyhe Gallery in 1931. $900 |
