Drypoint, 1928, Paff 278, edition 150. 13 3/4 x 11 5/8 in. Signed in pencil. Here we have a fine, luminous impression printed on off-white laid paper with a partial watermark "England". The margins are wide. The condition is very good other than minor rippling in the margins and a slight trace of old tape adhesive in the extreme right edge of the right margin. This large, exemplary work is a masterful example of Benson's painterly command of the drypoint medium.

This is a superb impression printed on cream-colored Japanese paper. The margins are full. There are three published states of this print and each impression is numbered. This is Benson at his best working with drypoint as an almost painterly medium.

He was a gifted watercolorist and this print displays the painterly characteristics of a Japanese brush painting.

The condition is excellent apart from traces of old hinges at the two top corners. There are five trial proofs and the total edition is not listed in Paff. Ordeman suggests and edition of 150 but this is not a common print.
