Woodcut, 1900, very small edition; proofs only. 9 5/8 x 6 7/8 in. Initialed in the block with the monogram and signed in pencil, lower right. This is a fine impression inscribed "proefdruk" in pencil. Wide margins. In very good condition overall; time staining and minor foxing. This wonderful Dutch art nouveau woodcut is the cover design for the book of the same title. It was published in Haarlem by Erven F. Bohn, 1900. Veldheer was a masterful woodblock artist who spent considerable time in France and was influenced by Japanese prints as well as Paris art dealer, Samuel Bing.      SOLD
