Demolition of St. James Hall, Exterior - MUIRHEAD BONE - drypoint

MUIRHEAD BONE
Scottish, (1876-1953)

Drypoint, 1906, Dodgson 196, edition 46. 15 3/4 x 10 1/8 in. Initialed in the plate, lower right. Signed in pencil. This is a superb, luminous impression printed on Japanese paper. The margins are full and the condition is fine. This is one of Bone's largest and most successful prints and suggests a comparison in some ways to Piranesi. The demolition took place along with portions of Nash's Quadrant for the future construction of the Picadilly Hotel. This print is rare today and is very desirable.      SOLD
