A Daylight Lamp - JOHN COPLEY - lithograph printed in colors

JOHN COPLEY
British, (1875-1950)

Lithograph printed in colors, 1909, Wright 29, edition 45. 12 x 9 3/4 in. Signed in pencil and bearing number "33". The stamp of the Senefelder Club is also present (Lugt 639). This is a fine impression with fresh, vibrant colors. The margins are full and the condition is excellent. Copley excelled in both lithography and etching and the colors prints are uncommon and date among his earliest works. The Senefelder Club was founded in 1908 to revive interest in the medium. It was there that he met Ethel Gabain, also a fine printmaker, and they were married in 1913.       $950
