Gloucester Wharves (Massachusetts) - WILLIAM MEYEROWITZ - etching printed in colors

WILLIAM MEYEROWITZ
American, (1887-1981)

Etching printed in colors, circa 1920-1925, small edition. 7 7/8 x 9 7/8 in. Signed in pencil and also titled in pencil along the lower margin. This is a fine, beautifully inked impression printed from multiple plates. (There are two registration marks on the edges of the image, center.) The margins are full with tack holes showing on all sides. The condition is excellent. Meyerowitz moved to Gloucester in 1919 and there experimented with color etching with Ellen Day Hale and Gabrielle de Veaux Clements. His superb color printmaking is discussed at length in A Spectrum of Innovation, Color in American Printmaking 1890-1960 by David Acton (1990).       SOLD
