Mother, Child and Dog (a.k.a. Interior of Tenth Street) - MARGUERITE ZORACH
Medium: linoleum cut
MARGUERITE ZORACH
American, (1887-1968)
Linoleum cut, circa 1921, very small edition. 9 1/4 x 5 1/2 in. Signed in the block and signed in pencil, lower right. This is a superb impression on thin, off-white Japanese paper. The margins are full. This outstanding modernist blockprint is illustrated and discussed in Paths to the Press, Printmaking and American Women Artists 1910-1960 (2006) by Elizabeth Seaton, et.al., pages 248-249. This print was done in New York where Marguerite and William lived for some twenty-five years. Her editions are not exactly known but her prints are certainly uncommon.Ex-collection: James Heald, Worcester, MA.
