This is a fine, luminous impression with fresh colors. The paper is a sturdy Japanese and the margins are full. Apart from mild toning in the margins, the condition is very good overall. Like the brothers Detmold, the Cavendish twins both worked on their prints. They were largely self-taught and their work was shown and published by Colnaghi in London. This is a superb, luminous impression with full margins. The condition is excellent apart from a small wrinkle in the printing found in the lower right corner. This is an exemplary work by the artist. We acquired it from the artist's estate back in the 1980s, sold it to a New York collector, and now we are pleased to re-offer it. Her floral prints have not been turning up over the last few years. (There's an inscription in the lower left margin by the artist "Ink (?) May '36.) And in the lower right corner, "48", which is possibly related to the edition number. $1,650 |

Signed in pencil, lower right. This is a fine impression printed on cream Japanese paper, a paper typically used by the artist. The margins are narrow but substantial enough. The condition is very good with very faint light toning showing in the image. Seaby was one of the best known students of Frank Morley Fletcher and he became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Reading from 1920-1933. He mastered the art of Japanese style woodblock printing and his work has a special place within the history of graphic art in England between the wars. $850 |

The margins are full and the condition is fine apart from very slight light toning within an early mat opening. This impression varies somewhat from one we have a few years ago; there's less definition in the trees in the background and the monogram in the lower right is not yet clearly defined. A new catalogue on Seaby is now available: Allen W. Seaby, Art and Nature, by Martin Andrews and Robert Gillmor (2014) by Two Rivers Press. There is no formal listing of the prints but it's a very nice publication with plenty of illustrations and informative text. SOLD |

This is a superb, luminous impression from the first edition of 50 impressions by Nicholson. There were two subsequent editions; one in 1974 by the Penn Print Room (50 impressions) and another in 1984 by Garton & Co (12 impressions). This stellar, early work was done in Wiltshire and the Church in the background is St. Nicholas's at Biddestone. Tanner was inspired by Samuel Palmer and William Morris.
