Etching, 1898, Nieuwenkam E45 (ii/II), edition ten impressions in the second state. 17 1/2 x 23 1/2 in. Signed in the plate, lower left. Signed and titled in pencil and also inscribed "epreuve d'artiste." (There's an etched remarque in the lower right consisting of flowers, a tree and a building facade.) The margins are wide and the condition is very good overall. This outstanding, large work depicts a lovely panoramic view of Rhenen with the Cunera Church on the right. Nieuwenkamp cleverly depicts his studio/houseboat (De Zwerver) docked along the shore in the left side of the composition. The artist had an etching press on board and he would travel different Dutch waterways in search of inspirational scenes.       ON HOLD
