Imaginary Figure I Etching, 1930s-1940s, edition unknown. 10 3/4 x 7 1/2 in. Signed in pencil, lower right. Inscribed "Druk v/d etser" (printed by the artist). This is a fine impression of a rare example of Dutch surrealist printmaking. The margins are full and the condition is fine.
Van Dokkum taught at secondary schools in Utrecht. He was chairman of Graphic Arts ("De Graphische") at the Painting Society Kunstliefde in Utrecht and was also a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam. He worked in many media and this creative print is not typical for his work. Rare. $550 |
