Etching, 1904, Weixlgärtner 76 (ii/II), edition unknown. 5 3/4 x 3 1/2 in. Signed in pencil in the image, lower left. This is a fine impression of this charming print. The margins are full and the condition is fine. Schmutzer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and spent two years in Holland on a scholarship. He loved the Dutch painters of the 17th century and especially Rembrandt's etchings. He was also a talented photographer and became well know in this medium. In 1901, he became a member of the Vienna Secession.
