Engraving, 1933, edition 90. 5 1/8 x 3 7/8 in. Initialed in the plate and signed in pencil, lower right. A fine impression printed on PANNEKOEK HOLLAND watermarked laid paper. The margins are full and the condition is excellent. This delightful print is from the series "Charmes de la Mer". Minne's engraving style is somewhat similar to that of Laboureur. He was a co-founder of the periodical La Lumiere and was one of the preeminent woodcut artists working in Belgium between the world wars. Other works by Minne are currently available.

Lithograph, 1930, edition unknown. 5 1/8 x 4 in. Initialed and dated on the stone. Signed and dated in pencil. This is a fine impression with full margins. Fine condition. This festive image most likely depicts Antwerp near the harbor where the sailors would congregate. Henri van Straten, a colleague of Minne, also made prints of similar subjects. Minne was one of a fine group of printmakers comprising "le Groupe des Cinq" which included Frans Mssereel, Jan-Frans Cantré, Joseph Cantré and the above mentioned, Henri van Straten. They specialized in making blockprints.

Woodcut, 1922, edition 30. 5 1/2 x 5 in. Signed and titled in pencil. A fine, rich impression with full margins. Some discoloration on the back of the sheet. Minne, along with Alex Lallemand, Frans Masereel, Karel Maes, Jozef Cantre and others, was one of the outstanding Belgian modernist printmakers from the 1920s and 1930s.

Woodcut, probably 1930s-1940s, edition 150. 10 x 6 in. Initialed in the block, lower right. Signed, titled and numbered in pencil. This is a fine impression in excellent condition. The margins are full. Minne was born in Ostend. He was one of the five principal artists who illustrated "Lumiere" which was first published in Antwerp in 1919. The other artists were: Frans Masereel, Jan Cantré, Henri van Straten and Jozef Cantré. Together they founded Les Cinq (The Five). Minne was one of the preeminent blockprint aritsts in Belgium during this period. He took up sculpture after 1940.

Linocuts, 1930, 100 plus 26 special sets listed as A-Z. 15 1/2 x 11 1/4 and the central image measures 15 1/4 x 14 3/4 in. Signed, dated and dedicated in ink on the title page. This example is stamped "B" from the special edition with hand coloring on the the title page. The condition is fine and the margins are full. The prints themselves were printed on Steinbach paper. (The dedication by Minne goes, "to jeanne and Nand, from all my heart. this piece (or work) from our Antwerp soil.") This exceptional work by Minne exemplifies his bold style of Belgian modernism between the wars. Minne was also a fine sculptor. (Photos of the other two images are available on request. This is the central image of the three which comprise the triptych, all printed on the same sheet and enclosed in a flexible tan folder as a cover. It's rarely found in this condition.)

Woodcut, 1931, edition 35. 13 x 11 in. Signed in pencil. A superb impression. Full margins. Very good condition other than slightly light struck within a previous mat opening. Minne is one of the most important figures of the Belgian modernist movement. He was co-founder of the periodical "Lumiere" (1919) and in 1969 was named president of l'Academie Royale de Belgique. He was also a fine sculptor. A major retrospective of his work was held in 1988.

The margins are full and the condition is very good other than a mild crease in the lower right margin area. Minne was an important Belgian expressionist printmaker who was the co-founder of Lumiere (1919). He was president of the Academie royale de Belgique in 1969.
